How to Scuff Your Tip
Scuffing (also called roughing up) the tip surface creates a texture that holds chalk more effectively. Use a tip scuffer or the rough side of a tip tool and apply light, circular strokes to the tip surface. You only need to do this occasionally — over-scuffing can wear the tip down unnecessarily.
